EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) -- Saturday’s beautiful weather was perfect for a nice, brisk walk.

Mayo Clinic Health System along with the Eau Claire Parks & Recreation Department offered a chance to enjoy the outdoors, get some exercise, and get healthy tips and information.

This was the second of three “Healthy Trails” events, which give people a chance to walk and talk with health care providers about a variety of health-related topics.

Saturday morning's walking session was at Phoenix Park in Eau Claire.

“A lot of people think that physical activity has to be ‘exercise’, where you join a gym or fitness club,” Dr. Paul Loomis, a family medicine specialist with Mayo Clinic Health System told WEAU 13 News on Saturday. “I prefer the term ‘physical activity. So, make it fun and make it convenient. It doesn't have to be dressing up in fancy clothes and going to the gym.”

The lengths of the walk-and-talk sessions were ½ mile, 1 mile and 2 miles long. The final healthy trails event is set for Nov. 14 at Owen Park in Eau Claire.
