Local Boy Scouts council rated 2nd in the country

(WEAU) - The Chippewa Valley Council of the Boy Scouts of America has earned a big honor, trumping hundreds of other councils in the country.

The local council was rated the second highest based on Journey to Excellence points. The councils are rated on several criteria including state of finances, membership growth and strength in programming.

Scout Executive and CEO Matt Hill says the award shows the Chippewa Valley board cares about their scouts. Hill told us “We have a dedicated staff, a motivated staff, most importantly we have hundreds of unit level volunteers that work with kids on a daily basis and do a fantastic job of providing a top notch experience for those kids.”

They took second place out of 295 other councils in the country. Taking first place was the Samoset Council, based out of Wausau.
