EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) -- October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and women across the Chippewa Valley are coming together to raise money for the cause.

After being on hiatus last year, the 13th Annual "Women Rock," a ladies night event, was held at the Florian Gardens in Eau Claire earlier Wednesday evening.

It was sponsored by Mayo Clinic Health System- Eau Claire.

Women paid ten $10 at the door to support breast cancer and research programs.

A cooking show, fashion show, and a silent auction all took place at the event.

One organizer said that it's about more than just raising money.

"There's encouragement, and there's bonding, and there's just so much more that happens at an event like this tonight and that's what it's all about," explains Jackie Bachmeier, an Account Executive at Spectrum Reach.

More than 500 women attended the event and 100% of the proceeds went to the American Cancer Society.
