ARCADIA, Wis. (WEAU) -- Mayo Clinic Health System - Franciscan Healthcare announced Wednesday plans to build a new primary care clinic in Arcadia.

The new 12,500 square foot clinic will be built on Highway 93. The project will cost approximately $4,250,000.

"We've spent several years really determined that the right path for our presence is here in Arcadia and now that work has truly come to fruition," said Tanner Holst, Administrator for Primary Care.

The clinic will have 13 exam rooms and will offer multiple services, including family medicine, radiology, and behavioral health.

Developers plan to focus on using modern design elements and technology to make each patient's experience more comfortable and convenient.

“We're trying to really make a clinic that is not just new but is modern, that is more better equipped than what we've had so far," said Bert Hodous, Site Leader of the Arcadia Clinic. "Patients have always been appreciative of what we have here, but the possibility of stepping up some of the services that we offer and improving the patient experience is a wonderful opportunity.”

The new clinic is being built to replace the current one in Arcadia on S. Saint Joseph Ave. The staff will be transferred from this building to the new one.

Eric Erickson, Vice President for Primary Care, says that Arcadia is a great location that is easily accessible from throughout Western Wisconsin.

“We're excited to bring something to the community that's new and refreshing," said Erickson. "We've been providing care for a long time and now we'll have a facility that really meets the standard of care that I think we bring to the patients in this area.”

There are no set plans for what to do with the building on S. Saint Joseph Ave. once the staff is transferred to the new clinic.

Construction is set to begin early this fall with completion expected next summer.
