EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) Mayo Clinic Health System Eau Claire is taking part in a nationwide effort to raise awareness for organ donation.

Wednesday the hospital's CEO, Doctor Randall Linton, signed a proclamation supporting the donations, along with many others across the country.

Each proclamation will by put on a vial, shipped to Pasadena, California, and go on a float in the Tournament of Roses Parade.

We spoke with a mother whose son passed away in 2009, his organs were donated.

"It's amazing to me. I feel to honored that I get to sign it in memory of my son, not only that, the float is base on the "never ending story" and that was my son's favorite movie and so its really close to my heart," says Patty Duerkop.

You can look for the "Donate Life" float during the parade on January 1st at 10:30 am, you can watch it right here on WEAU.
