EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) -- A new baseball league is looking to get started in the Chippewa Valley, and says it needs the community's help.
The Miracle League is a program that gives kids and teens with disabilities between the ages of 4 and 19 the opportunity to play baseball in an organized, non-competitive league on a safe field.
There will be an informational meeting Wednesday night at 6:30 at Globe University for a start-up committee.
One organizer says it's all about connecting families and the community.
"A lot of times families become disconnected from one another but also from the community at large. So this is an opportunity to turn that around and connect them back with their communities and one another," explains community member Tim Wavrunek.
The Miracle League hopes to have teams up and running by next summer, but Wavrunek says that there are a lot of steps that need to be taken in order for that to happen.
