NEILLSVILLE, Wis. (WEAU) -- A Marshfield woman accused of breaking a seven-month-old girl's leg was sentenced to jail.
Recently, a Clark County judge sentenced Kaylee Schnitzler, 26, to 90 days in jail. She also cannot provide child care for a year. Investigators say he girl's mother picked her and her three-year-old sister up from Dream Bound daycare on October 9, 2013. The mother said the girl's left leg was swollen and in an odd position, and that she ended up taking her to see a doctor. A doctor later found a bone in the girl's leg was broken.
Investigators interviewed Schnitzler several times. A criminal complaint says she initially said that she did not hurt the girl, but later changed her story to say that she "adjusted" the girl's leg, and that "it was possible something happened at that time." The complaint goes on to say that Schnitzler didn't tell the girl's mother because she was afraid the mother would flip out. The girl's three-year-old sister told investigators that Schnitzler threw the baby.
