Officers looking for information in Sparta robberies

SPARTA, Wis. (RELEASE FROM SPARTA POLICE DEPARTMENT)-- The Sparta Police Department is investigating a pair of robberies that occurred on Friday, December 27, 2013.

The first robbery was reported at approximately 7:30 p.m. and occurred in the 800 block of Charles Drive. The victim told officers she was selling items door -to -door for a charity fundraiser and was returning to her vehicle when an unidentified male shouted out to her from the front of a nearby home. The suspect asked about the items the victim was selling and if she could make change. When the victim attempted to do so the suspect took the money from her hands and
fled the area on foot.

The suspect is described as a white male, possibly in his twenties, between 5'3" and 5'4" tall, weighing approximately 140-150 Ibs. The suspect was wearing a black jacket, black or dark colored jeans, and a black ski mask.

The second robbery was reported at approximately 9:30 p.m. at Casey's General Store, 326 S. Black River Street . The lone male suspect entered the store and demanded the clerk give him
money. The suspect claimed to have a gun, but did not display a weapon during the robbery. The suspect fled the store on foot with an undetermined amount of cash.

The suspect is described as a white male in his twenties, approximately 5' 6" to 5' 8" tall with a medium build . The suspect
was wearing a camouflage coat with hood, black ski mask, green shirt, blue jeans, and red gloves.
