EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) -- Carlee Jo Vonderheid, 17, is pretty familiar with hospitals and doctors.
She was born with extra fingers and toes and has had numerous medical procedures.
On Friday, she got to experience the medical field on a whole new level.
She's a part of the Mayo Clinic Health System Med Ex program.
The program gives students interested in the medical field a chance to see what doctors do every day.
"I've always had a love for the medical field, and so I'm hoping to attend St. Mary's University in Winona. I'm hoping to major in biology/pre-psyho-technology and then go on to schooling at Rochester Mayo Health System," said Carlee.
She will be following eight different doctors as part of her experience with the program.
