EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) -- The City of Eau Claire cut the ribbon to its new outdoor Fitness Zone Friday.

The Fitness Zone is located at Owen park in Eau Claire and features nine fitness stations with instruction boards showing various ways each piece of equipment can be used.

The area is open for public use at no charge.

CEO of Mayo Clinic Health System Dr. Randall Linton said the location of the Fitness Zone is perfect for people in the community.

"To have access in a beautiful setting like this within Owen Park and having it adjacent to other activites so families can come together and have a chance to make exercise a part of their routine," said Dr. Randall Linton.

The Fitness Zone was made possible thanks to a $25,000 grant from Mayo Clinic Health System.
