Unknown subject fully engulfed in flames dies in vehicle fire

BRUNSWICK, Wis. (WEAU) -- An unidentified subject fully covered in flames died in a vehicle fire Saturday, November 21, in the Township of Brunswick.

The Eau Claire County Sheriff’s Department and Township Fire Department responded to the vehicle fire on the 6500 block of County Highway Z in the Township of Brunswick around 8:30 p.m. Saturday.

The Sheriff’s Department says an unknown subject was located next to the burning vehicle in a swamp, both fully covered in flames.

The fire was quickly extinguished and the subject was determined to be deceased.

Based on the severity of the fire, identification of the deceased subject at the scene was impossible.

Township Fire and Rescue, Eau Claire Fire and Rescue, Wisconsin State Patrol and Eau Claire Police Department assisted at the scene.

The Sheriff’s Deputies are following up on leads in an attempt to positively identify the deceased subject and who owned the vehicle.
