WIAC teams kicked off conference football play across Wisconsin. UW-Eau Claire traveled west to take on UW-Stevens Point, UW-La Crosse hosted UW-Stout, and UW-River Falls took on UW-Platteville. In more Blugolds action, women’s soccer battled to a draw with UW-Whitewater, and volleyball defeated both Cornell College (IA) and Coe College (IA). The Chippewa Steel topped the Fairbanks Ice Dogs for their 2nd straight home win.

Prep football teams are entering the final stretch of the season in Week 7. Regis battled with Stanley-Boyd, Elk Mound traveled south to Mondovi, Durand-Arkansaw took on Fall Creek, Menomonie fell to New Richmond, Eau Claire North squared off with Hudson, Chippewa Falls made the trip west to River Falls, and Eau Claire Memorial topped Superior.

Prep volleyball dominated the evening in the Chippewa Valley. Eau Claire North hosted Eau Claire Memorial in the crosstown showdown, McDonell made the trek south to Osseo-Fairchild, Thorp battled Regis, and Bloomer topped Stanley-Boyd. In prep soccer, Chippewa Falls battled North to a draw in a resumed game, while UW-Eau Claire topped Northern Michigan in college men’s soccer action.

Altoona girls tennis maintained their dominant stretch with wins over Antigo, West Salem, and Eau Claire North. The Chippewa Valley Vipers Rugby Club hosted their first ever tournament at Casper Park. UW-Eau Claire announced the hiring of Michael Rhodovi as the head coach of women’s lacrosse.
