Wally Ellenson wins gold at Junior Pan Am Games

Former Rice Lake star and current Minnesota track and basketball athlete Wally Ellenson won gold in the high jump on Sunday at the Junior Pan American Games in Medellin, Colombia.

Ellenson took the top spot with a jump of 2.15 meters, or just a little over 7-feet.

Ellenson was a state champion in long jump while at Rice Lake. Wally qualified for the Pan American Games earlier this summer when he cleared 7-feet and one-half inch to finish second in the high jump at the USA Junior Outdoor track and field championships in Des Moines, Iowa. Earlier in June, Ellenson earned All-American honors at the NCAA championships, tying for 8th with a jump of 7-feet, 2 1/2 inches.
