Girls high school hockey in the state of Wisconsin is very interesting. Most teams have players from multiple schools, just like the Eau Claire Area Stars, which consists of girls from Eau Claire North, Memorial, Fall Creek and Altoona. In other sports, these girls are your rivals but in hockey, they’re your teammates.
The brother and sister duo of Gunnar Hurlburt and McKenna Hurlburt are separated by just one grade as McKenna heads into her senior year and Gunnar into his junior at Durand High School. The two siblings seem like the tallest and biggest athletes on the court every night which has helped them find success on the hardwood.

On Wednesday, Eau Claire Memorial announced head football coach, Paul Kling has resigned after eight years leading the Old Abes.
Kling led the Old Abes to the WIAA playoffs in six of those eight years, including a school best Level 3 finish in the Division 1 playoffs this past season.
Overall, Kling compiled a record of 38 wins and 41 losses and a 29-27 record in Big Rivers Conference play, including a Co-Conference Championship in 2011.
