OakLeaf Clinics adds 2 urgent care locations
EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) - OakLeaf Clinics has added two urgent care facilities opening this month to help fill the gap in critical healthcare services in the Chippewa Valley following the closure of HSHS and Prevea locations in April.
According to a news release from OakLeaf Medical Network and OakLeaf Clinics, the Chippewa Falls Urgent Care opens June 10 and the Menomonie Urgent Care opens Monday, June 17.
OakLeaf Clinics converted part of its existing clinic at 855 Lakeland Drive to add urgent care services. This location will be open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. during June. On July 1, this location will extend its hours to Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., and holidays from 8 a.m. to noon.
The Menomonie location was purchased from Prevea and is shared with the OakLeaf Medical Network member Foot & Ankle Clinic at 2919 Stout Road in Menomonie, Wis. This location opens on June 17 and will be open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. during June. On July 1, this location will extend its hours to Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., and holidays from 8 a.m. to noon.
These are the first urgent care facilities for OakLeaf Clinics.
“Adding Urgent Care capacity has been one of the highest priorities for OakLeaf Clinics since HSHS made the announcement that it was closing its hospitals and the Prevea clinics in Western Wisconsin,” said Dr. Erik Dickson, the medical director for Urgent Care at OakLeaf Clinics. “Thousands of patients in Chippewa Falls, Menomonie and the surrounding areas that need urgent treatment can now be treated at these Urgent Care facilities. We hope that having this Urgent Care capacity will mean that Eau Claire emergency rooms will see fewer patients, thus helping them lower wait times.”
Both urgent care locations will be staffed by advanced practice providers who previously worked for Prevea Clinic and RNs. Both locations will have x-ray and lab services available.
“We’ve been able to add a great, experienced Urgent Care team who has worked together for years to add these services to patients throughout the Chippewa Valley,” added Dickson. “Keeping these skilled advanced practice providers in place in Chippewa Falls and Menomonie will help fill important care gaps left by HSHS’s departure.”
