GILBERT, AZ (AZFamily/Gray News) — A teenage girl has died days after a single-car crash that left several others injured.

On Wednesday, Gilbert police confirmed that a 16-year-old girl died from her injuries late Tuesday. She has not yet been identified.

“Our thoughts are with her family during this difficult time,” the police department said in a statement.

Gilbert police said the crash happened just after 10 p.m. on Williams Field Road, just east of Gilbert Road.

Five teens were injured when the driver was headed westbound and, for an unknown reason, collided with a tree.

Four of the five injured had to be hospitalized. Two of which are still receiving care, police said Wednesday.

Detectives said the teens were ages 16 and 17, and at this time, investigators believe alcohol may have been a factor in the wreck.
