Silver Screen Spotlight: “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” swings into theaters

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) - A brand new Marvel movie is swinging into theaters this weekend.

In “Spider-Man: Brand New Day,” Aunt May is gone, and the two most important people in Peter’s life couldn’t pick him out in a lineup. The big question is: what’s next? This is the fourth movie in the Tom Holland Spider-Man series, which also stars Zendaya as MJ and Jacob Batalon as Parker’s friend Ned Leeds. Destin Daniel Cretton is directing, a Marvel veteran having directed 2021’s “Shang-Chi.” Rated PG-13, “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” is playing at Micon Eau Claire, Chippewa Falls, and the Oakwood Mall.

Returning to theaters this weekend to celebrate its 55th anniversary is “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.” Starring the incomparable Gene Wilder as the man himself, “Willy Wonka” is an absolute classic. You can embark on a tour led by the candy man exclusively at Micon Oakwood Mall.

It’s the second-to-last week of the summer kids’ series. Don’t miss out! Catch “Sonic the Hedgehog 3″ on Monday and Tuesday at the mall and “Kung Fu Panda 4″ on Wednesday and Thursday in Chippewa Falls. Tickets are just $2.

The Micon Downtown Cinema is temporarily closed due to smoke damage.
