Denise Roesler

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) - I am honored to nominate Denise Roesler in recognition of her many years of extraordinary dedication to the Chippewa County Adult Special Olympics Organization.

For years, Denise has been the heart behind our local Special Olympics program. Her commitment goes far beyond organizing practices, competitions, transportation, volunteers, fundraising, and all of the countless details that happen behind the scenes. She has devoted an incredible amount of her time and energy to making sure our athletes have opportunities to participate, compete, build friendships, experience new things, and most importantly, feel valued and included in their community.

What makes Denise so deserving of recognition is that this has never been “just a volunteer position” to her. She genuinely knows and cares about the athletes. She celebrates their accomplishments, encourages them when they struggle, advocates for them, and works tirelessly to make sure they have opportunities that many people may take for granted.

Running a local Special Olympics program requires an enormous amount of work that most people never see. Year after year, Denise continues to show up. She coordinates coaches and volunteers, organizes events and competitions, handles behind-the-scenes responsibilities, and finds ways to keep our program strong so our athletes can continue doing something they love.

The impact of her work reaches far beyond sports. Because of her leadership, athletes have gained confidence, independence, friendships, a sense of belonging, and memories that will last a lifetime. She has also created a community where families, volunteers, coaches, and athletes feel connected and supported.

It is difficult to put a value on the number of hours Denise has given to this organization over the years, but the true measure of her contribution can be seen in the lives of the athletes she has touched.

There are people who volunteer their time, and then there are people who become the heart of an organization. Denise Roesler is one of those rare individuals who has truly become the heart of Chippewa County Adult Special Olympics.
