Organization hopes to get more student voters at UWEC

A Wisconsin youth organization is using welcome week to get thousands of college students to vote this November.

Nextgen Wisconsin is set up in the Davies Center at UW-Eau Claire hosting ‘Polaroid for the Polls.’

Organizers say it’s meant to influence students to pick up their voter ID card. The organizations say they have a photo booth set up to engage voters ahead of midterms. One member says it’s especially exciting for first year students to get out and vote away from home.

"I think students are the most fired up they've been for an election. People say that young people in high numbers for midterms. We're working to change that. Everyone I've talked to on campus is really excited to vote,” said Kessa Albright with Nextgen.

Organizers plan to be on 26 campuses across Wisconsin. The general election is November 6.
