Experiencing some déjà vu this week as below average temperatures return

A mix of sun and clouds can be expected this afternoon as an area of high pressure moves in, well to the northwest. West-northwesterly winds will stay breezy, and it will be noticeably cooler as an upper-level low pressure system spins to our north. Upper northwesterly flow on the backside of the low will usher in well below average temperatures as highs only reach the low 50s. Any clouds will decrease this evening, leading to a mostly clear sky overnight with lows cooling just below the freezing mark. Once again, frost will be a concern into tomorrow morning.

With a bit more cloud cover around tomorrow, temperatures will barely grasp the 50s. Our weather will remain quiet and dry throughout the day. A shortwave embedded in northwesterly upper-level flow could wring out a few showers on Thursday but forecast soundings (a vertical profile of the atmosphere) continue to highlight low-level dry air. Much like Monday, rain may evaporate before it reaches the ground.

While our upper-level air pattern will continue into the weekend, there are some nice changes expected. Warmer air will begin to move into the area on Thursday as the previously mentioned disturbance pushes through. Temperatures are expected to reach into the 60s by Friday and the mid to upper 60s on Saturday. A cold front will pass by into Sunday, dropping temperatures a few degrees, but we’ll still remain near seasonable levels. There could be a stray rain shower with the passage, but confidence remains low. Winds will pick up some on both Saturday and Sunday. The 60s will stick around into early next week.
