We’re nearly a week into May, but the weather has been feeling more like early spring the last couple of days. Thankfully, we do have some warming to look forward to as we head into the tail end of this work week. Tonight we will again be under the risk of at least scattered frost, with a chance to see some locations drop back down to freezing. It’s less clear cut for tonight, with clouds being slower to clear out. Widespread lows in the 30s can be expected, and a frost advisory has been issued for several counties in Western Wisconsin until 8am Thursday.

The dry weather will continue on Thursday, with a mix of clouds and sunshine. This will help warm our temperatures at least back into the 50s as we start to reach a bit closer to average.

By Friday, temperatures will have a chance to return to average with light southwest flow helping to bring in some milder air. This will come in advance of a cold front dropping through Southern Canada. Breezy west winds will help push temperatures up through the 60s. The front will have limited moisture but may bring a chance to see at least a few scattered showers as we kick off the weekend.

Chances for rain will be limited, so overall impacts to any outdoor plans will likely be minimal. Still, be aware that a few scattered showers may pass through Western Wisconsin during the day Saturday. It will also be rather breezy, with winds up around 15 mph. Once the front passes, winds will shift to the northwest, leading to some cooler air returning on Mother’s Day. The weather will at least stay dry if you have any outdoor plans, but temperatures will only peak in the 50s again, along with more breezy northwest winds. We may still have to deal with a couple chilly mornings with frost potential into early next week, otherwise daytime highs will rise back through the 60s. Our first real chance at widespread showers and even a few thunderstorms looks to come next Tuesday.
