EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) - We’ve been in Mother Nature’s good graces this week as temperatures have been about 15 to 20 degrees above average. While the beginning of the weekend brings 70s, we’re tracking a cooldown back to reality by Sunday.

A look at the weekend forecast.

Breezy southerly winds and partial sunshine will allow for a pleasant and warm day today. We won’t be near any records, but daytime highs will reach into the mid 70s across the board. If you have any outdoor plans, the only caveat will be the wind as we could see gusts between 20-25 mph.

Cooler air will work in overnight and into Sunday morning, along with the chance for a few rain showers. Activity will be scattered in nature, and we’re not expecting a washout by any means. Rainfall on Sunday will be relatively light, with under a tenth of an inch of rain expected. Winds will lighten and temperatures will be in the upper 50s.

In terms of our warmth this month, it’s felt a lot more like September! In fact, our average temperature is nearly 7 degrees above normal. We’re currently sitting in the 4th place spot for warmest October on record. With the cooler weather in the coming days, I wouldn’t be surprised to see that ranking falter. I do expect us to finish the month above average, however.
