Warm and breezy weather is closing out this final week of February, ahead of a cold front that is slated to pass through later today. Winds are gradually shifting out of the west while turning breezy at 10-20 mph. This combined with a partly to mostly sunny sky will allow temperatures to soar well above average to the upper 40s and low 50s this afternoon. Once we fully get behind the cold front this evening, our warm-up will officially end as north-northwesterly flow ushers in a cooler air mass.

With the colder air, temperatures both tomorrow and Sunday will struggle in the 20s, though winds will not be too big a factor. A disturbance will generate our next chance for snow tomorrow, and recent forecast data continues to pinpoint a northward shift in this snow band. It currently appears areas south of I-94 will be the focus for the highest snow accumulations, though this is subject to change as new model runs come in. There have been indications of a narrow band of heavy snow setting up somewhere, but confidence remains quite low. For now, an updated look at our snowfall forecast can be found below.

If you have any travel plans tomorrow, keep in mind the potential for several inches of accumulating snow. This wave will depart, and high pressure will filter in to welcome in the start of meteorological spring. Return flow arrives on Monday with the high exiting, allowing for the 30s and 40s to return as the week wears on. There is some clash between different guidance next week involving precipitation chances as our upper-level air pattern turns more active with westerly to southwesterly flow in store. It currently appears we could see a stray rain or wet snow shower on Tuesday, with better chances for precipitation arriving by later next week.
