A nearly 30-degree temperature swing and breezy winds in store for Sunday
After a late spring tease yesterday, we’re getting a slap into reality out there for today. A cold front has swung through, and temperatures are in the 30s in many spots this morning. We’re also waking up to some cloud cover behind the departing front. Clouds will elevate later this afternoon, allowing for sunshine to make a return. Despite the sunshine, temperatures will struggle in the 40s across the board today, with breezy northerly winds in place due to a large difference in pressure over the region from an area of low pressure to the east, and high pressure moving south out of Canada.
The high will allow for skies to clear in the evening, and we’ll stick with sunshine on Monday as the high exits eastward. This will eventually allow for us to tap into return flow/southerly winds. Temperatures will slowly rebound into the mid to upper 40s Monday. Upper-level ridging building back in over the Western US, Tuesday and into Wednesday, with temperatures grasping the 50s both days. Wednesday will likely be the warmest day of the upcoming week, with the chance for a few locations south of I-90 to break 60 degrees. There is a small possibility of a stray shower on Wednesday with a wave passing through, but the better chance comes Thursday behind a cold front. Upper level troughing will take hold to our east Friday, with surface high pressure floating over the upper Midwest into Saturday.
